Another good idea about all 30L-1 .
I only realized recently how smart Mr. Art. Collins has been . He provided
us with a " D.C. VOLTS " position on the meter in order to evaluates the
condition of the 2000 VDC voltage doubler power supply capacitors .
Sure enough all you have to do is take your watch ( or a chronograph ) and
do the following :
Turn the 30L-1 ON
Switch the Meter to " D.C. VOLTS "
Be ready to start your watch at the same time as you turn the 30L-1 " OFF "
.
Be ready to stop the watch as the needle slowly cross the 1000 VDC mark on
the meter ( between .8 and 1.2 ) ......with the old original
capacitors it may be as short as 2 or 3 seconds .....and as good as 5-6
seconds for good ones . With my Upgraded Retrofit capacitors-diodes kit as
much as 8- 9 seconds .
It seems to me the easiest way to tell the real capacity of the
electrolytics so essential in a voltage doubler power supply .
All comments wellcome .....
