[Collins] Trimmer Cap Question

If you have the 'stiction' problem which happens on at least 1/2 of the
stuck trimmers you try moving, what happens is the rubbery insulator and
ceramic separator in it all stick to the top movable piece. This makes the
trimmer inoperative. They can be opened up by sliding the bottom clip off
the center post and lifting the top piece up. Separate all the pieces,
clean them good (I use ethanol or ethyl alcohol) and allow to dry prior to
reassembly.
Repairing them is a lot easier than changing them, even IF you can find
them. I have found non-original types that someone has replaced the
original ones with. These don't have a removable bottom clip and MUST be
replaced when they become stuck. I think the 'stiction' comes from
lubricants or cleaners used around the trimmers that gets into them and
hardens up with time.
I am currently looking for a supply of the 8-50 pf ones. If you have any
to help me keep Art's rigs running, I sure could use a bunch. If you do
change out your originals, send me your old ones!
