[Collins] Query about 6m transverters and S-line

The old Hallicrafters HA-2 (2 meter) and the HA-6 (6
meter) transverters can be had including the power
supply for around $200 - $250. The power supply will
run both units. These have a "high" and a "low" level
input. The "low" level is for powers up to about 30
watts and the "high" level is for powers up to 100
watts. The receiver output is separate from the
transmiter input which allows operation without any
separate relays, etc.

I have had one of the 2 meter versions for going on 30
years and it works great! Since I have a Heath
SB-110A 6 meter transceiver I don't need the HA-6
version. Over the years, I have used the HA-2 with
both a 75S-1 / 32S-1 and my 75S-3A / 32S-3. Presently
use it with a Heath SB-301 / SB-401 since the 500 KHz
per bandswitch position is a bit easier on 2 meters.
However, on 6 meters, use of the 28 - 28.2 MHz range
works out fine from the S-Line since most activity on
6 meters is between 50.1 and 50.2 MHz. On 2 meters
the "calling frequency" is 144.200 MHz which is on the
dividing line between the first two "normal" S-Line 10
meter bandswitch positions.

I believe you can reduce the drive down for CW but not
on SSB (at least, that is what I think).
