The T-102 / R-104 were basically copies of the 32S-1
and 75S-1 Collins except that the first i.f. was
shifted 100 KHz (don't remember which direction). You
could use the crystals from the Collins in the Eldico
but the band was shifted 100 KHz. The Eldico units
were purchased by the military, especially for MARS
stations, because the military had to have a "second
source" besides Collins for their SSB equipment.
Thus, the Eldico equipment was produced.

I owned a transmitter and receiver back in the
mid-1970s. They were just about as good as my 32S-1
and 75S-1 if not very close to being the same. I
traded them off after a while. Now wish that I still
had them! However, I had a 75S-1, 75S-3, 75S-3A,
32S-1, and a 32S-3 so I didn't really need them.

I did make the balanced modulator modification from
two germanium diodes to the full-wave rectifier
version just like was made in the 32S-1. That
definitely helped with the carrier supression.

But, the equipment that is being talked about is
definitely NOT the "S-line" clone!

He's referring to the large SSB-100/SSB-1000 line and
not the T-102/R-104 "S Line clones".
