Many years ago, I did an exhaustive study of the St. James Grey wrinkle=20
finish. The correct paint was manufactured for Collins by the Klinger Pain=
t=20
Company in Cedar Rapids, IA. The magic to its distinctive wrinkle is "Chin=
a Wood=20
Oil" which dries at a different rate than the rest of the paint, thereby=20
causing the wrinkle. Differing wrinkle paints have differing additives, an=
d china=20
wood oil is the correct agent for St. James Grey.
I bought 24 gallons of this paint from Klinger Paint in the early 1970's and=
=20
re-painted a KWS-1 lid: it *perfectly* matched the original paint. At th=
e=20
time, china wood oil was difficult to come by, so there was a rather stiff=20
minimum order. Sold and gave away a lot of paint at the time as i actually=
=20
needed about a quart.
