I've been reading all the input from the armchair "product review =
experts" and have a few comments from someone who bought one... first of =
all opinions are like noses, everyone has one... if you bought a Boat =
Anchor Cooler, then step up and give comments, IF NOT, save the =
bandwidth..... I have the Cooler and ordered extra fans. Before I go =
further, I also built two sets of cooling fans using the fan brackets =
that are sold by David Ishmael WA6VVL for two of my KWM2's. If you are =
using the DX Engineering Speech Processor in the KWM2, you can't use =
Dave's fans since they use the same PA cage screws as the processor. As =
for the issue of dust.... well I use my Collins gear, if I wanted to =
have them for display only I'd have them in an airtight climate =
controlled showcase.. and let the showcase collect the dust....face it, =
if you use it, it will get dusty so some annual Preventive Maintainence =
(PM) is in order. I like the BAC, the unit is nice looking, closely =
matches the equipment, the fans are smaller than the larger muffin fans =
I have used over the years and move less air than the Muffins which were =
overkill. The fans are also quieter than the Muffin fans and there is =
no trace of background noise. I like the long cables for the BAC fans =
since my S line is about 6 feet from my KWM2's and away from the BAC =
power source. I also use the fans on the 75S and 32S. I have also added =
one of the repro Collins emblems to the face of my BAC to match the =
line...it adds a nice touch..... ((Bet that drives a wooden stake into =
the hearts of those die hard Collins Only types huh....ugh another =
non-Collins add on....anyone got a nice MS-101 available?)) Face it, if =
you have other ideas on reducing the heat generated by tube gear, well =
great! The bottom line, if you use your gear with any type of fan =
cooling you will have dust.... so get over it and go fire up your boat =
anchor and get on the air.......I find the BAC an inexpensive well built =
solution for removing the heat from my gray boat anchors.......73 Tom
