Thankyou all for the help on my questions about the power supply. The main problem was very large voltage swings between idle and transmit. underload the b+ dropped way below the design voltage and the high voltage fluxed up and down. The spike on start up was really hard, sure don't want to do that to 40+ year old radios. It looked as though the guy used the conversion by DUTCH WB7DYW, BUT THEN WENT NUTS , couldn't follow what else he had added and changed. Such a rats nest almost imposable to trace out. Of course the seller had no knowledge of who, or when or what, he just sold it. Its going back to the seller today, who will resell it to another some where. SO thanks agin for all the help everyone sent to me. Its really great to know there is a form out there where one can go for help and not have to try and reinvent the wheel again. Found another 516f2 today, as built by collins-untouched. thanks dale K8PEO
