[Collins] KWM-2A QUESTION

       Collins Group:

                   I recently aquired a KWM-2A and find on the front pannel 2 
spots that
       seem to be patches to cover holes drilled through the front pannel. 
These
       patches are very neat and somewhat difficult to see and I am not, at 
this point,
       complaining about the patches. What I would like to know is; what kind 
of
       modification would have called for these holes in the front pannel? 
One hole
       was/is located to the right of  the mic gain and left of the 
crystal/band 
       selector switch and the other hole was just left of the wing emblem 
when
       you are facing the front pannel. Looking inside the radio I can see 
where
       the patch material has pushed through just slightly inside the radio. 

             Anyone have any ideas about the reasoning behind such a drastic
       measure? Any help appreciated, Thanks in advance fo your reply's!
