As I re-read my own post I see it could be misread to think I was
advocating the old "if it was good enough for..." argument. That wasn't
my intent. The intent was that with tube gear, it is far easier to get
in to actually read schematics, trace circuits and replace components.
Yes, you need to learn a little about tubes but the concepts of
resistors, inductors, capacitors etc remain the same, and with tube
gear, they are far easier to get to, measure and replace if needed.
Excellent way to build your electronic skills, especially for the newer
hams.
