Gary-

Barring a component prob, I'll bet your AC line is most of the cause.
Original xfrmr made for 115/230. My AC Line is 123/246.

This will increase the DC plate abt 8 pct. So, you shud see abt 1700-1750
under load and abt 1900-2000 in stby.

When you chk your fil volts it will also be high...like 6.6 or so. This
will shorten tube life.

You can do several things. Install a Variac to adjust the AC. (best but
expensive) Install a bucking xfrmr to lower the AC line. (next best) You
can put in series resistors in the fil leads to lower the fil to 6.3 VAC and
install inrush current limiters to save the power switch, fils and pwr
xfrmr.(the cheapest way out)

I measured a 46 amp single cycle inrush surge on 246 VAC. Installed two 6
amp/5 ohm limiters and dropped it to 20 amps which the switch will
withstand. I also put 0.15 ohm in each fil lead to drop to abt 6.3.

Kind regards

John
