Folks:

I have cured the chirp in my 310B-1 and thought I would share with the
reflector what I did.

There are two waxed caps in the keying circuit. Both are .1MFD. One is
mounted back by the CW keying soft/hard switch and the other is under the
bandswitch in front of the first mixer tube. I changed out the one in the
back to a .05 and the one in the front to a .001 MFD using orange drop caps
in both cases. When the hard/soft keying switch is in the soft position,
these caps are paralleled. In the hard position, only the cap at the rear
of the chassis by the switch is in the circuit. The problem I had was the
rise time was so long it introduced problems with keying. Changing out the
caps changed the rise time and made the note a lot crisper. Now I won't
have to worry about the chirpiness of the signal and potential OO greetings
cards on 10M!

The caps in question are C141 and C146.

I still am looking for a JEL coild for 15M. Anyone out there have one they
can spare. I have a 20M coil coming that I can modify if worse comes to
worse but still like to obtain a factory original type.

Thanks and 73,

Charlie, W0YG..>>
