[Collins] AOR DDS-2A Revisited

I find the old AOR DDA ads interesting.  Even the current displays of " A Work 
of Art"..!  I just cannot see Art setting at an S Line console ... using 
digital displays.  A good operator can most likely come within 10 cps (yes 
cps .. Hertz rents cars) using the good old analog dial.  To this day, I find 
it interesting that some are even complaining of bad (aka High Fi) audio on 
their 51J's or A-4's.  These devices were designed as a communications 
device.  Art did not use his HF devices for Hi Fi..!  That was the other side 
of the house, Broadcast.

Now with digital displays, the phrase "you are off frequency" really ruins 
things.  Hey, you might be 10 cps off frequency, but I can still understand 
what you are saying...so what is the problem.!!!

Someopne says up 5 ... well glance at the dial and you can come darn close to 
5 kc high...close enough to communicate ... and that .... is what our 
equipment is for.

So the next time someone says you are off frequency, ask them if they can 
understand you...if they can...what is the big deal.
