Yesterday i drove up to Cripple Creek to do some leaf peeping,

You can play some background music from the song: "Goin Up Cripple Creek": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIBafFYvyzA

Overall history of the Gold Camp Road and its railroad history:

i was operating 20 meter CW, but only when stopped. Too hazardous to drive and work CW on a narrow twisting road.

Here is my log:

KD2FSH Jerry AZ,
Ni8N Jack OH,
K6EL Elliot CA,
WA5BDU Nick AR,

WA9PWP Paul WI, using his TR-35.
VE2JCW Jean QC.
All stations were better than 579X.

   i was running my PRC319 at 50W to a 7 foot whip.

   TMI... TMI...
As you probably know it is still a big gold mining district.
The mine is expanding and currently producing about $1,000,000 per day.

The city has had free range burros around since the 1890's. There are still 15 of them roaming around the city. They have been scattered because of the building noises in downtown Cripple Creek. They were so hard to round up they had to put GPS collars on them.
The new building downtown is a 6 story, 300 bed, Hotel/Casino.
It is Called the 'Chamonix':

It is reported to be funded by Las Vegas.
It is pretty big hotel for this little town so next year we will have a big grand opening party or a 300 bed Ghost Hotel.
Sharon (my XYL) and i found a nice place to eat at 333 Bennett Ave called the 'Gold Camp Cafe' (appropriate) and they make the best hot sandwiches. Plus there aren't any slot machines inside.
