i was operating up in the Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado, for a few days, last week, 2015.
It is the most beautiful park.
(They call it ROMO on the Park Radio, East side is on 166.35, 166.45 simplex, 164.475 for bulletins, 168.35 for the west side).
The park was still busy but the "Toll Takers" were off duty at 4pm and the entry was free.
You can see the park web cams at http://www.nps.gov/romo/learn/photosmultimedia/webcams.htm
i went up the Trail Ridge Road to operate from the Toll Trail at 12,000+ feet.
Pretty nice place to operate, no trees to snag your whip.
There is still snow in the crevasse and some new snow on Long's Peak.
The Trail Ridge Visitor center is closed for the winter but the Restrooms are open.
You can see the Never Summer Mountains and Static Peak from there.
Then i went to Bear Lake, which is very nice, lots of overhanging trees on the trails.
This is in a little valley (as most lakes are)
and close to the Continental Divide but i worked the west coast on 20 meters SSB.
There were elk every where in Moraine Park, Beaver Meadows, and even out in the lake.
The trail ridge road will soon close for the winter because of the snow but the
other roads remain open.
Hope you get to operate from ROMO some day.
This should be one of your NPOTA destinations.
