The September VHF contest is this weekend....with a bunch of stations
active on 144.200 MHz USB right now.
If you want to try out SSB on the 2M band, this is a good opportunity.

Subject: [RMVHF] ARRL September VHF QSO Party this weekend,Saturday
1800z start time

GMCC:

Well, also this weekend is the ARRL September VHF QSO party that starts at
12:00 noon local and ends 9:00pm on Sunday. We hope that GMCCers who
operate both on HF and VHF will give this test a try as any contact is
meaningful out here in the wild, wild west where its far and few between for
vhf contacts. Exchange is just your Grid Square...here it is DM79 in the
Denver area.

While it isn't anticipated that there will be much 6 mtr Es propagation, it
can sometimes surprise you when the band opens for a few minutes in the Fall
and Winter months. There should be the hardcore vhf contesters activating
6, 2, 222, 432, and 1296 bands. The way it ususally works is that any
contact on 6 or 2 can lead to other bands where contacts may be made with
several locals at a time. We hope that any of the GMCCers who usually only
operate HF will break out your mobile or HF rig with 50 mhfz on it and try
to make a contact or two with it.

Look for contacts (mostly on SSB) on the following frequencies: 50.125,
144.200, 222.100, 432.100, and 1296.100. If you only have a 6m antenna, you
can try loading your rig on 2m using your 6m antenna. Sometimes, some ops
have been able to load their rigs on 6m using a HF tribander...you just have
to give it a try. - If you want to build a quick dipole, they can be
effective on vhf.

For rules, check the ARRL website details.

Thanks for getting on and giving out some points.
