As long as it is not illegal, immoral or fattening (and there may be
some latitude on the latter ;-) then what ever *you* would like to use
the reflector for.
wooooow makes a good point tho. no posting mean no spam - Hi Steve!
Sorry I couldn't answer on the 76 machine over Thanksgiving. Due to the
influenza, I still have a good voice for CW.
At this point no one is giving us any flack so I may just be showing a
bit of paranoia but I thought it would give everyone time to think about
it while there is no urgency.
If I may, let me add a few thoughts.
Swap list: Since the CRA does such a good job with their weekly swap
net, my guess is that the niche is probably filled.
Emergency notification: I'm of the opinion that this would not be a
good place to post such information. Use as a backup, rather than a
primary distribution point, should work quite well. I believe that most
people will check E-mail when it is convenient rather than when
something bad is going down. Once again, just my opinion.
Spread the word on up-coming events: Sounds like a perfect use
Weather bulletins: Once again (like emergency information) as a backup
sounds great, as primary distribution I think would be a bit shaky.

For anyone that has not heard about it (and hasn't spent all of the
Christmas money yet) Yaesu has - such a deal - going on their FT-897s
HRO Catalogue price $1049.95. Current in-store price $894.
Yaesu mail in rebate $200 (until December 31, 2003) which makes the
radio $694!
Then iffin you are REALLY interested, HRO has a package deal going with
the ATAS-120 antenna (regularly $349.95) and a 4.5 AH internal battery
for the 897 (regularly $119.95) for a package (this is Radio, antenna
and battery) of $1099 minus the $200 rebate or $899.
I talked with John at HRO yesterday and he anticipates a week to week
and one half ship date (funniest thing, they are sold out of the radios
and are waiting the next shipment - and yes, mine will be in the next
shipment).
One thing to keep in mind about the FT-897, it is the KING of
accessories. If you get everything, you will spend at least as much on
accessories as you do on the radio. But then again, it is not that
unique on the subject.
