Hello COARES members:

Steve Powell, Boy Scout training coordinator for Loveland/Ft Collins,
has asked for a ham or three to assist in demonstrating ham radio
to Scout Leaders on Saturday, October 20, 2007 in Fort Collins.

This day is Scout "Jamboree On The Air", when scouts all over the
world get in contact by ham radio. In this way, they are introduced to
ham radio and for many it's the only time they get a chance to hear
about the Amateur Radio Service. It's also the 50th Anniversary JOTA
event, and the 100th Anniversary of the founding of Boy Scouting,
so it's a special year.

Steve is asking for some hams to come to the scout training sessions at
Harmony Presbyterian Church in Fort Collins to set up a demonstration
ham station (it does not need to be complicated) so Scout Leaders
can learn about ham radio and take the info back to their scout groups.

This could be like a mini-SET for ARES folks to take out their
gear and operate in the field.

I will be doing exactly that, but from Colorado Springs that day,
so I am asking for volunteers from the area hams to help Steve.

If you can give a few hours to the cause, and perhaps help recruit some new
hams in the process, please contact Steve at his email address:

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.
73,
Chris Kelly, K0PF
