[CoARES-D10] Net Time and Day Survey

Greetings!

We seem to have some conflicts with the Wednesday
evening NET Time and day. This is a survey to find out
what other day and time might work for people better.

There has been a steady decline in net participation.
Some certainly I take the blame for in that we have
had a lack of training and other activities that would
attract regular participation. Now as we are in the
midst of the holidays we find even a greater decline
in our net activity. However at the same time I have
been contacted by some who would like to participate,
but because of other regularly scheduled activities,
work or even those who leave for work at zero dark
thirty in the morning, necessarily miss the net
because of a need for sleep.

We have in the past tried different times and days
without success. In light of the difficulty of
determining what day or hour is the best, we are
surveying you the membership. We need your input. We
have a viable group of operators with some very good
experience. We just need a day and time that is
conducive to the participation of the greatest
numbers. We understand that no one day and time will
be the best for EVERYBODY. With that in mind we would
like to get input from each op/member of our group as
to when you can participate. In some instances its
easier to let us know the conflicts... in some I am
sure its easier to let us know your preference.

ID update. We are getting new ID cards for at least a
temporary basis. Yes they will be good for X years,
but have another official ID that will be tied to our
agencies soon forthcoming. In that they are not
always, lets say timely, and I realize nor have I, but
we will have the new ARES organization issue cards
ready by mid January. The others will follow when the
agencies manage to get them done.

We have net training that should start tonight. Long
in the happening, but should get the ball rolling. We
would like to schedule helpful training exercises for
the first of the year on other topics. Do any of you
have ideas of what you would like to see presented. A
Packet workshop is planned for February with others to
follow. Perhaps other topics you may have an interest
of learning more of might include APRS, HF Digital,
Portable Station set up, ATV, or maybe something
completely different. We need to hear from you! Email
your suggestions.

There will be no net on December 26 or on January 2,
2008. This is in an effort to allow you to enjoy your
families and for us to get the responses tallied. We
will resume Net Operations on January 9.

We want to thank each and every operator for their
participation in D-10 ARES to the extent you have been
able to this year.  I would personally like to wish
each and every one of you and your families a Merry
Christmas and a very happy, healthy and prosperous New
Year.
