[CoARES-D10] Just one more thing...

HI Guys and Gals!

Just one more thing today... You may have noticed if you have been listening
to the last couple of days of the Picnic Rock fire, that we have a new
squelch tail. It is in CW and it says, "ARES". We had Steve, N7GN program it
into the repeater controller and can be activated by any control station or
one of the D-10 Staff.

It is intended to advise users of the repeater that an ARES event is being
operated on the repeater and that they need to listen. It's intended to
minimize traffic, except for the incident traffic on that repeater.

If you find yourself not being involved in the comm's for the incident, we
encourage you to minimize your traffic, or even not move to another
repeater. If you find yourself needing to use the repeater, in consideration
of the incident users, please keep your transmissions short and leave big
gaps so that incident users can get in to pass traffic. We attempt to keep
the repeater open for semi-normal use, however if a formal net is in
progress, direct any needs or calls thru the net control.

Thanks for helping us to encourage others to adopt this practice as well!

73,

Randy, W0AVV
