Hi Hart,

Is there an attic and if so, do you have access to it ??

I've had (and still do) a fair amount of attic mounted antennas, including
some dipoles that were just bent around the attic. They all worked at least
fairly well. My two sat loops (M2 VHF and UHF 'eggbeaters') are mounted in
my attic and allow for satcom on as little as 5 or 10W depending on pass
elevations.

>From what you noted, an expensive ground plane antenna on your roof would
probably just be a target for a mis-directed youngster.. and true to form in
today's litigious society, you would probably be liable if the kid hurt
himself while vandalizing your antenna.... a real shame these days

> Thanks for reading this message. I live in the top part of a house and
have access to the roof . The house is a semi-detached house, and the roof
is only 12 X 25 if even that. I have the local kids every once in awhile
climbing up on the roof, so a wire is out of the question. I want to get
back into HF, but there is no sence in me buying a rig if I can't put some
sort of antenna up. I was thinking along the lines of a butternut, or
cushcraft but there is no room for the ground plane kits.I would like to
build my if I could, here in canada I'm looking at over 500 bucks to buy one
of these antennas. Anyone got any ideas for my situtation? Please e-mail
off line at [email protected]
