I've just signed up after having been directed here from the boat
anchor list.
Yesterday I was given some older radios, a Globe Chief 90 and a very
interesting CE 20A. I'd like to put them both back into operation.
The CE 20A it appears, as I haven't found clear evidence yet that
the parts were ever installed, may have been partially assembled (to
use on CW only?). I haven't given it a good look over yet, but I don't
see tooling marks where components may have been installed and later
removed.
The one I have is missing anything to do with phone operation.
As a longer term project (I have a few on the go now I'd like to
sort out first) I'd like to restore it and put it on the air. I've
been a QRP operator for years, my current HF of choice is my K2/10,
with an IC 703 for other tasks. A full 20W output is QRO for me :-)
I'd like to find advice and parts to get the 20A back in service.
My background is avionics bench and flightline maintenance (since
1980). I was first licenced along with my Dad (SK) back in 1970.
If this goes together well, I may try to find a suitable receiver to
go with it, and spend a few hours operating the way I did when we
started out (borrowed DX60 until the HW 101 was completed).
