[Central-Electronics] 20a Station Control

Hi All,
I've been working on my 20a, and it must be an early version, with no
accessory contacts for AC and no scope jack. It's a rack mount unit in
nice cosmetic shape. I've gotten it to the point where I'm getting 5-8
watts out.
My main question relates to station control. I'm a newbie with respect to
separate xmitter/reciever setups. My 20a will be paired with a Viking
thunderbolt and the receiver is a Collins 75a-3. Antenna is a new Gap
Titan DX vertical.
I've got mic PTT set up, and I'd like to automate the send/recieve paths to
the antenna. I have suitable relays to handle the amps' output, and was
thinking of switching it based on the accessory contacts of the 20a's relay.
My concern is that when I click the mic that RF current may start flowing
from the amp before (or as) the send/recieve relay contacts close.
Is there a concern here or am I just paranoid - I'm not sure how hams did
this in the 50's. My alternative idea is to use a footswitch for
send/recieve relay, with an interlock to prevent PTT from activating unless
the relay is in Send position.
Help is greatly appreciated!
