Blithering is an understatement. I went back and double checked the alignment. All good. After allowing the radio to “sit” for a few days, thinking it might improve its attitude, I now have output on 40 and .. ta da 10 meters (almost full output). Naturally, 160, 80, 20, and 15 are now unexpectedly DEAD.
Interesting thing .. not to leave any stone unturned I went back and carefully cleaned the band switch contacts yet again. 90 watts out on 10. I then applied D5L to the bandswitch — with a paint brush. 10M output FELL to 70 watts.
I’m not sure I have enough towels to throw in. Apparently the newt’s eye I purchased form the local shop didn’t work. Perhaps I should wear a sheet on my head when I walk around the oak tree?

PS. Has anyone had email contact with Nick Tusa in the last few weeks? I’ve sent several emails to nick.tusa at ce-multiphase.com but have had no response.

I’m finally at a point where 160/80/40/15 are producing some output — around 65/80/80/80 watts max respectively in CW. 20 and 10 which were working fine day before yesterday (low output on 10 though) are now essentially dead. 20 just barely flickers the Bird, and 10 is producing around 10 watts out. 10 for 10. I think when I started all of this that there was “headroom” in the RF output, but these numbers are with everything maxed out. And there’s no info in the manual that I can find regarding calibrating the power input meter scale.
