Since I haven't seen any traffic on this subject, I know a number of us on
this list communicated many times with Gordon as he restored his CE-100V so
I wanted to pass along the sad news that Gordon is now a SK.
I always admired his "get'er done, just keep going, one step after another"
attitude about getting a project done. Even though his website is amazingly
helpful with his great knowledge of the Kenwood Hybrids, he was not as
knowledgeable about the 100V. But whenever he got stuck or needed info, he
posted a question...no hesitation, no airs, no fear, he just asked...and
after getting the info, back to work. The CE-100V is absolutely beautiful
and works as good as it looks, from what I understand.
Here is the info as I received it... the last message I have from Gordon is
Dec 27 when we were "talking" about our collections and mutual love of
reading old QST's, 73's, etc..

Greeting Group,
It's with a heavy heart and sadness that I need to tell you about the
passing of one of this groups
long time members & past moderator:
Gordon-N6WK, went SK on January 1, 2014 after some medical
problems.
For those that are new to the group, you don't know what you
missed. But, Gordon
maintained: N6WK.com an excellent repository of
information. Along with being an
"Elmer," he is, and will always remain a great guy.
73 Gordon!

Dave,
Thanks for the kind words Dave.
Yes I do have the step by steps around here and lots of pictures.
I will dig them out and post my steps.
This 100V had a frozen VFO as well, but took it apart, replaced the two
bearings cleaned out all the old deteriorated foam and gook, installed new
Foam, lubed and re-assembled.
Smooth as silk now. I even replaced all the little ball bearings in the
Vernier dial assembly!
I took each sub chassis apart from the others . It made it much easier doing
one section at a time.
All new Stainless hardware when it went back together too!
If a Capacitor was round and tubular.. It got replaced...LOL
73,
Gordon

detail out the trials and tribulations you went through both cosmetically
and electrical?
