[Central-Electronics] 100V or 200V?

Thanks Todd,

So far it seems to be about an equal split of respondents, half for the 100V and half for the 200V! That only makes my decision harder! Why couldn't it have been 10 to 1?! Nothing is ever easy, I guess. Well, I got the 200V out of its packing materials and re-read some old emails the previous owner sent me about it. This one has a frozen stiff VFO. I wonder if I might power it up and run into a dummy load, even with the VFO stuck where it is. To see whats what. The 100V has the 160m option and the 200V does not....hmm!

It could definitely use some polishing on the chassis. W0YVA polished the innards of my 100V to a mirror shine. EH Scott would be jealous!

Funny you remember that CR-88! I just got it out of storage and here is a picture of it next to? You guessed it, the 200V.

Does anyone have any production numbers (even guesses) about the 600L? I have a nice one that I bought and never used. It had previously been restored by K5EF some years ago. But finding space for it... Plus that it really isn't a fit for a 100/200V....argh

Six of one, half-dozen of the other, Eugene. Ten years ago scarcity would have perhaps driven more folks to keep something based on perceived value. More and more of them are realizing that we are pretty much it - we're the audience for this old gear. Just go up to any kid on the street and ask them what a AM/FM receiver is, if they listen to the radio, etc. 'Radio' to the coming generations means internet radio.

While there will likely still be demand for the handful of rare sets like the SX-88, KW-1, and similar low production or other oddities by the handful of younger folks actually interested in them, the collector market of a decade ago is pretty well stocked up and rapidly becoming depleted of buyers. Supply will overwhelm demand eventually.
I'd say choose whichever one suits your fancy and send the other down the road. Either one will look great with that CR-88 you picked up from Bill at NEAR-Fest a couple years back.
