[Central-Electronics] CE-100V Power

Hmmm - interesting thought. It would take a clean sawtooth at the external
input of the 8640B, which would also be used to sync, or directly drive the
horizontal trace of the associated scope. The issue is one of maximum
range, as you suggested. The HP manual says that the deviation is limited
to 1% (peak to peak) of the lowest frequency in a given octave range.
Almost useless below 20M, and even at 14 MHz, it's just about enough to
cover half the band. Still, it might be worth a try to run a sawtooth into
the 8640B, then directly to a detector to assess range and flatness for
yourself.

Gordon the 8640B can be swept, limited range but may be what you need.
You have to feed a signal in to the FM input, I can't find my notes on what
exactly I did when I tried it but if you read the thread here
http://antiqueradios.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=130054
it may give you some ideas. About halfway down if you want to skip the rest
but it's all good information.
