Hi Gordon:
Well done! What was the final obstacle? I'm just catching up on all of the
activity here on the reflector, and you sure have had your problems with
that one. I was beginning to think the unit may have taken a lightning hit
at some point, but it sounds like was not the case.
The 100V and 200V's I've come in contact with all seem to have a fair amount
of power variation from band to band and across each band, although yours
sounds a bit extreme. Except for the crystal oscillator, all of the coil
packs seem to be double tuned; i.e. - primary and secondary transformer
adjustments. After re-reading the alignment instructions, I believe that
you can generally follow those directions using two discreet frequencies
near the band edges. For example, align the primary side of the 80M driver
xfmr at 3.525 MHz, and the secondary side at 3.975 MHz. You may have to
pick closer or wider spacing of the edge frequencies (i.e. - 3.575 & 3.925
MHz) to get a reasonably smooth response, but that's the general procedure.
Before doing any adjusting, however, you should check each circuit to see
where the alignment is to begin by moving the generator across the band and
observing the signal variation.
You'll get there Gordon!

Subject: [Central-Electronics] CE-100V Power
OK Guys,
I have the CE-100 putting out Great power on every band.
However, I must change the CW or AM carrier level on each band. ( Depending
on which Mode I am in) Isn't there supposed to be pretty close to the same
output on each band?
If I choose CW and have, say 100 watts output on 80 meters, shouldn't I be
able to get each band to be pretty close to the same output without
re-adjusting?
I must be missing something.
For one, I do NOT have a sweep generator to do some of the Alignment
steps.
I have a sig Generator (HP-8640B) along with a lot of other Quality test
gear.
For example, If I set the 100V for 100 Watts output on 80 meters, it will
not be enough to get 100 watts out on 40. ( Must turn up the Carrier) If I
set it to 100 watts out on 40, when I go back to 80, it is too much output .
I have to keep adjusting the Carrier control for each band. I don't think
that is Normal.
I did find that when I was complaining that I was showing Watts on
the meter with out any drive when in TX, That is NORMAL. The Manual says so!
LOL
It should be showing 50-60 Watts ( On the Watts meter) as soon as I key it
in Non Carrier modes without drive.
I am surprised nobody mentioned that.
So, I am slowly making progress. I just now need to figure out how to make
each Band fairly even on the output without constantly adjusting the "Set
and Forget" controls.
Can I do the Alignment without buying a Sweep Generator? There must be a
way.

Gordon
