[Central-Electronics] W2EWL "Cheap and Easy SSB" questions

I thought I'd post this here, given the similarity to the CE 10/20A rigs
and the common heritage they all share back to the original 1948
Noorgard design where the "9 plus/minus 5MHz" scheme for 75 and 20
meters was first presented.

I've been able go get good results on 75, but have run into difficulty
getting the W2EWL rig to work as envisioned on 20 meters. The problem
- or at least one of them - is the level of the 3rd harmonic of the 5
MHz VFO (which runs aroung 15.5 MHz) which is as strong as the desired
14.3 MHz signal. Having tried traps (ala the orange coil in the 10/20A)
and a few other ideas, I'm wondering how the design ever worked in the
first place - yet I'm certain that it did, despite the shortcuts that
were taken in the design.

So, I'd love to exchange notes with anyone who has built/restored a
W2EWL rig. Or anyone who has thoughts about this issue. Rather than
clutter up the CE reflector, just drop me a private email - thanks.

73, Bob W9RAN
