[Central-Electronics] 600L Question

Hi Donavan:
Welcome to the group and to the circle of 600L owners also. It's an awesome
piece of gear any way you look at it.
When I first acquired my 600L I found a few potential problem areas that
have not been mentioned so far, so here goes:
The 500 uF - 50V electrolytic across the time delay relay in my unit was on
its last legs; high leakage and poor ESR. Easy to find and replace.
The 1N34 diode used to monitor reflected power was flaky, and would cause
the load mis-match relay to chatter even when the load was fine. One of the
engineers that used to work for CE told me that 1N34s were always a
reliability problem, and should be replaced periodically. Well, I replaced
them once anyway, and it's been fine ever since. They're readily available
from Mouser. Same is true of the 1N34 balanced modulator diodes in all of
the CE exciters, by the way.
Like Jim, I was lucky enough to get a 600L with solid state rectifiers;
highly recommended. Those oil filled caps seem to last forever, BTW.
Enjoy....hope to work you on the air sometime!

Subject: [Central-Electronics] 600L Question
Folks,
I am new to the group, and a recent recipient of several nice CE units
including three 20A's and a 10A. I have a couple more coming including a
600L. I am wonder what 600L owners have found to be the most troublesome
parts in a 600L? I keep looking at the 45uF / 1800V oil-filled cap thinking
that would be a tough one to find today, but perhaps there are other parts I
should be focusing on that are prone to failure in a 600L?
Best Regards
