[Central-Electronics] CE20 oscillator drift

Paul,

Early in my 20A experiences, I once checked into a group of ESSB folks on 40M. Here the BC-458 output is tripled (I think), and the 9 Mhz rock can do its dance at any point in the first hour turned on. Well I drifted 200 HZ, and made about a 1 minute transmission off frequency. When I unkeyed, OMG there was a flurry of guys all criticizing me with comments like, "what a lid", or "your drifting out of the band man". With these guys 20 Hz drift is a lot. Be careful where you go with your drifty 20A! :-)

Regards,
Jim

I think I compensated the entire loop by placing the 20 vr dropping resistor
in the 458 directly below the 1626. Never knew I had a drift problem
Can't believe we ever cared about hundred hz drifts. As long as everybody
was within a wrist twist of the rx tuning---who cared.
