In anticipation of getting my newly acquired 200V operational, I ordered Nick Tusa's 160 meter conversion. I haven't installed it yet as I'm still in the cleaning phase, I want to get it all cleaned and operational on 80 thru 10 before adding his 160 kit. However, since I have the vfo out for refurb (bearings etc) I figured I'd add the 160 meter markings to the dial now.

For those who have obtained the kit from Nick know, he recommends using some rub-on transfers (Chartpak) to maintain a nice clean appearance rather than just using a grease pen or marking pencil. Since I couldn't locate any of these transfers locally, I looked into another method, laser printing onto clear decal like material. What I ended up with worked pretty well for me, I printed out the entire 160 meter scale on one "decal" and applied it. Here's what it looks like:  http://www.w2ec.com/200v-160m-Decal.pdf

The material is adhesive/self sticking and non-glossy, you can barely tell it's there. I'ts more obvious in the picture than it is in real life. Just separate the decal from the paper backing, align the heavy 1.8 to 2.0 range marker on the existing baseline and lay it down. It is a little forgiving so you can peel it up a small bit if you need to realign it. Of course I haven't used it for very long so don't know how well it will last long term but the adhesive is pretty good, I thing once it cures it will be there for quite a while.

So here's the thing, had to go thru several sheets of this paper experimenting before I got it sized the way I wanted. Once I had a final product I was able to print out 14 decals on one sheet. Of course I've only used one, and I'm going to keep one as a spare, "just in case". That leaves me with 12 spare decals. If anyone would like to try one of these on their CE-100V/200V transmitters with 160meters, I'll sell them for $3.00 each including postage, that will help me offset the original cost of the bulk pack of decal material. Not trying to make money, just fund the development process.

Drop me an email if you're interested in one.
