Joe,

The CE20 works pretty well the way it is. I use mine regularly along with 
the companion VFO.  I believe the Lakeshore VFO is also a converted ARC5 as 
is the CE VFO.  The 458 VFO I use is quite stable and is perfectly usable 
on 20m as is.

As far as amps,  I'm using mine with a Globe/WRL LA-1 amp. This is 
basically a very early sweep tube amplifier  and is a perfect match to the 
low outpul levels of a CE20.  I've also worked quite a few stations 
barefoot with it.

IT's really a fine rig, and quite usable .... Mine is usually on 20m
