Hi Joe:
Nice to see you on this reflector for a change. I'm glad to hear that
you've taken the plunge into a 20A & Lakeshore; a great combination.
All of the answers that you've already received about a 600L are right on;
it's the best match there is for a 20A. K5MO's suggestion of a WRL LA-1 is
also good; that will get you to the 100W (output) level at least. Also, be
sure to keep you eye's open for any of the P&H amplifiers; they were
designed to work with the 20A.
The circuit for the original P&H linear is in the June 1955 issue of QST;
not too hard to duplicate, except for having to modify the 1625 base.
The easiest home brew route, however, would be a grid driven 4CX250B. Only
needs flea power to drive, and you should get 300 W PEP without too much
strain.
73 & good luck Joe..keep us posted!

Have been offered a factory wired 20A, S/N 746X, that has been stored since
1973. Am comfortable with slow power application, filter replacements etc
but am wondering if there have been any S/B's or major mods for that serial
number range. Any info on increasing power out a bit might be interesting
although a basic GG one or two tube linear might be a better way to go.
Will be using it with a Lakeshore SSB VFO
Thanks,
Joe k7mks
