[Central-Electronics] RE: 600L problems

Hi Lynn:

I had a discussion some years ago with an ex CE employee that worked on the
design of the 600L. Relative to load mismatch circuit, I learned that the
most frequent cause of problems relates to the 1N34's in the RF bridge.
Germanium diodes do not age very well, and have a tendency to go south
suddenly.

Good luck & 73,

Greetings to the group, and thanks Nick for your information on the switch.

I can use some advice. The 600L that I have had on the air for about 3
years now (thanks to some help from K5EF) has suddenly developed a problem.
I can turn the Filament switch on with no problem. But about one second
after I turn on the Plate switch, a relay throws and the Load Mismatch light
comes on. I can make it go off by pushing the Plate Overload button but the
light is on again as soon as I let go of the button.

I think I caused this. The other day, I failed to notice that I had left
the plate switch on when I turned on the filament switch. I have had this
problem ever since and the amp is off the air.

I assume I will be pulling the front panel (again, as I did when I first put
the amp on the air).

Do yall have any advice as to what I should be looking for?

Thanks, Lynn, K5LYN.
