Fellow Central Electronics 100V & 200V Owners,
My original CE stock of replacement AC power switches (the little red or
black module attached to the rear of the Function switch) for the 100/200V
transmitters has dwindled to net-zero. These are beginning to fail at an
accelerated rate after 40+ years of operation. This part was never intended to be
supplied as a separate repair item for rotary switches as few pieces of
electronic gear are in service this long. Anyway, I have been researching a
replacement source for the AC power switch used on the 100/200V transmitters on and
off for the past several years...more so when I was doing the restorations at
my previous Covington location. After a long string of strikeouts, I've got
a source identified.
Of course, the minimum order is rather significant in terms of quantity
since these are rarely used in Today's equipment, so I am asking if there is any
real interest by CE collectors in buying these repair parts as spares for
your existing radios. Frankly, I don't see how to repair these as when they
fail it is totally catastrophic...at least for those failed ones I've dissected.
Short of installing a toggle switch somewhere on the set (I've actually
seen a few of these in the past....yuck), a failed switch results in a shelved
transmitter and no fun. So, if a reasonable number of you are interested in
securing spares, I'll commit to having a run made. Please advise soon.
Also on the list of parts projects are meter face replacements for the
100/200V. You may not believe it, but when your set was first produced, those
meters were a light cream color. Today, most are a ripe merlot!
Regards,
