[Central-Electronics] 20A VFO

Tisha,

The BC-458 with the central electronics modifications will allow a 20A to
cover 160-15m, and cover 10m with the optional 10m module. These old VFO's
do not always age real well, but they are a good match to a 10B or 20A. An
alternative is the Lakeshore Band Hopper SSB VFO. I am curious as to what
flexibility you might be looking for?

If you 'rock bound' your 20a with a crystal at the transmit frequency, then
you can only run CW. To run any voice mode the crystal needs to be + or - 9
Mhz from the desired transmit frequency.

I think you will find these VFO's all drift a fair amount while warming up,
and 40m is pretty much a 'don't try' because the VFO is tripled for this
band. You need to anticipate your usage with a good 30 + minute warm-up.

Regards,
Jim Candela
