[Central-Electronics] OK! -52db

Ron,
Your 20A 2nd harmonic at -35 db down from the fundamental is surely not
world class, but consider it another way. 35 db down from 20 watts is about
6 mw, and 52 db down is about 100 uw. So how far on 80m is 6 mw (2nd
harmonic) going to be heard when feeding a 160 meter antenna? I might use
that tuner to get a better match to your antenna, and be able to inflate the
power from the 20A slightly into a different load impedance. The level of
that harmonic at -35 db is not a big cause of concern to me. That said, look
and see what happens on 15M when the mixer plate is detuned just a touch....
Regards,
Jim

OK! I added a small pie network tuner ( cap - inductor - cap ) and after
very carefuly adjusting the 20A as well as the tuner, I get the 20A-BC458 to
almost 20 watts ( OK 15 on 160 meters) and the second harmonic is down at 50
to 55 db below the carrier on 160 thru 20. Now this is all into a dummy load
and only on CW. I am trying to establish the method I will use when it is
connected to the real antenna. Any hints?
Next - AM ( which should be a piece of cake ) and then SSB. I have already
established that the phase shift network is working very well.
