Very nice tip, Jim.
Jon: before you get to tweaking, you should take the time to check the
resistor values, and make sure that the fixed caps are not open or shorted.
Not too much chance of them being leaky, but you never know.
73 & good luck,

Do any of you have any experience servicing the PS-1 in the sideband
slicer?
It sure would be great if one of you knows the procedure for
adjusting those trimmers.
Thanks,
Jon, K6JEK
Jon,
If this PS-1 is the same as in a CE 20A, then you drive it with a sine
wave around 1 KHZ and look for equal amplitude outputs that are 90
degrees in phase from each other (1/4 wave) . If you look at the two
outputs on an oscilloscope ( X:Y setup) you should see a near perfect
circle. The 90 degree phase shift and amplitude balance should remain
pretty much constant from 300 - 3000 hz.
I have set up a 20a PS-1 before this way. It's not magic.
See the following link, set both fx and fy to 10hz and the initial phase
to 90 degrees.
