NEWS FLASH - K1GXT is now W1LSB
Well CE friends, I think I've had a mid-life crisis. After more than four
decades, I decided to make a change. I received the call KN1GXT in 1958, and
have been K1GXT since 1959, except for nearly years as KU1R, when I forgot
to renew K1GXT, and lost it at a time when the FCC didn't have a way to
recover.
My new call, W1LSB ( W1 Lower Side Band) is more in line with my passion for
researching early amateur SSB, and getting those great CE rigs on the air.
The first AT&T carrier systems were LSB, the first trans-Atlantic telephone
systems were LSB, and the first known amateur sideband rig was LSB; built by
W6DEI in 1933, and the keystone SSB event, W6YX's SSB tests in 1947 were on
LSB.
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!
73, and keep those CE rigs glowing....see you on LSB!
