Mort,

Welcome to Central electronics, and the reflector. The CE manuals as you
noticed can be a little "thin" on content. I don't have a SSB slicer so I
cannot help you. Maybe somebody else will jump into help you. If not, keep
banging away, and I'm sure you will figure it out eventually. If you make
progress, please share it with the group. There are a nice bunch of OM's
that read this reflector, and they are pretty knowledgeable on the CE gear
as well. Most are into the 100V/200V, 600L, and a few like me are into the
20A.

Good Luck!

Subject: [Central-Electronics] Adding a Central Electronics sideband
slicerto an HRO-60

Hi folks,

Glad to have found this list.

I recently got a nice HRO-60 and it came with a Model B with the built-in Q
multiplier.

I downloaded the manual for the slicer from Bama but it's not clear, to me,
on hooking it up.

The instructions for modifying the receiver at the Select-O-Jet socket are
clear.

I'm having trouble understanding how the unit then hooks up. There's an
external plug-in, AP-1, that has a cable out. There's another cable, AP-3,
that's currently not installed which has 2 cables out. Then there's the
back of the unit which has 4 RCA jacks labeled, IF IN, VOL CONT, PROD DECT
and AF OUT.

The Select-O-Jet socket, according to their manual, has connections called
REC DET, VOL CONT and a choice of the AP-1 adapter coax lead or the IF IN of
the Model B.

This makes it sound like the AP-1 doesn't have to be used. There's no
mention of the unit's RCA jack labeled AF OUT. Nor any mention of the AP-3
cable.

What does the AP-1 do? What's the AP-3 cable for?

If connected, does the receiver's audio still function as before? If so,
what's the AF OUT (or the front panel audio jack) used for?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Mort
