Does anyone know the specs for the crystal oscillator crystals, like
capacitance? I would like to buy a couple of them but only know the
frequencies and size (HC17/U). Crystal makers want to know more. I
would also like to buy a 5.605 MHz crystal for my most common rag chew
3.895.
Almost all FT-243 crystals had the same capacitance (what was it, 92
pF?) but I wouldn't put it past CE to use something fancier in the 100V
HC17/U crystals.
Thanks,
Jon
PS: Why am I buying crystals? I was going nuts trying to get the 17.5
MHz crystal to oscillate and be on frequency. Then I noticed the last
guy who worked on my transmitter, Wes Schum (yes, Wes Schum), noted
this crystal was off frequency & he didn't have a spare. That was in
1970. I doubt that it's gotten better in the interim.
Incidentally, I found adjusting the slug-tuned inductors in the HF can
had a big effect on frequency while the screw adjusted inductors
outside didn't do much.
