[Central-Electronics] 100V VFO help

Thanks to Nick Tusa's excellent instructions, the VFO is out and
sitting on the workbench. But it is presenting challenges I wasn't
expecting: foam, grease, ball bearings, caps & resistors.

The slug is badly misaligned with the coil form. It is almost
immobilized. I intend to follow Nicks instructions to re-align it.
But when I removed the back cover to have a look I discovered a mess.
The foam that lines the inside cover has disintegrated filling the
inside with a grainy powder. Does anyone have a suggestion for
replacement material for this foam?

Today I hope to disassemble the actuator, clean out the dried grease,
re-pack, and re-assemble. I plan to use a mix of Radio Shack Gel Lube
and synthetic oil. Bill, N6PY, believes this Radio Shack lube is high
temp Teflon grease. Can anyone confirm this or give me a different
source for Teflon grease?

I would like to replace the bearing assemblies if I can instead of just
cleaning them. Does anyone know a source for small bearing assemblies?

And how about the caps & resistors in the VFO itself? I didn't intend
to go through the VFO electrically but there the parts are sticking out
like a sore thumb. Should I resist the temptation to check caps &
resistors or are there a few that I should really go after?

OK, OK, I'll stop asking questions.

Thanks,

Jon, K6JEK
