Hi group,
I liked the posts on the 600L, and 100V. I don't understand however how the
100V (100 watts RF output??) drives a grid driven 813 where all you need is
a few watts to drive it. If you crank down the 100V audio gain on SSB so as
to not overload the 813, doesn't that compromise carrier rejection?
Also noticed that with 20A's the headphone jack is isolated from the
chassis, and what is normally the ground point is now hot. This means that
the 1/4" headphone plug tip is ground, and the shell is hot. No big deal I
guess, but since I use a Autek QF-1 audio filter, I get 60 hertz hum, and
the Autek case is "audio-hot". I have to unplug the AC power to the Autek
(when bypassed) to get rid of the hum. looking at the 20A circuit, it
appears that to save another set of relay contacts the audio polarity to the
phone jack was swapped around.... Am I on target, or is there a better
explanation?
Regards,
Jim Candela
