Hi again, again Paul,

The companion ssb adapter for the R390 is the same design as the GSB1 with
the exceptions that the GSB1 has the beautiful large easy to read dial
calibrated in increments of 100 cycles and the passband filter is 2.5 Khz at
the minus 6 db points and 3.5 Khz at minus 50 db points....Whereas the R390
companion has a passband filter that is 3.1 Khz (I believe) at the minus 6 db
points - I dont remember the width at the lower points....

The reason for the wider passband (I believe) is because wide shift rtty was
the standard way back and the tones commonly used were 2125 and 2975 cycles,
so the wider passband passed the Mark signal with no problem (Mark high was
the practice)....

The circuitry is the same in both the R390 companion unit and the GSB1, both
heterodyning the 455 Khz signal down to 17 Khz....

73 73 73,

Ken....N5CM....NNN0FKQ....
