Hi Brian,

No compression what-so-ever  works best for me. I made up a jumper with an 
octal tube base and plugged it in in place of  that audio compression 
module....Just watch the plate meter on the 600L and don't kick it up more 
than 50% of full carrier load....Never got a report of overmodulation in over 
a decade of use....

A frequent participant in round tables on 75 meters back then would state, 
"Ken, you sound like BBC"....(Broadcast quality)....
