Hello all. I have a question, but first some
background. I am also a member with the Andrews Civil
Air Patrol (cap.gov) and we obtained one of the FEMA
trailers for free to convert to a Communications
Trailer. I have it at my home in La Plata and we were
lucky and received one with a separate bedroom we will
convert to the Com Room. I was hand picked by the
conversion team of one as the leader.

My question is what technology would you recommend to
be included? I have removed the queen bed and
converted the outside storage box to add leg room and
I am at the electrical/coax installation phase. I want
to plan ahead and run coax now before I build the
"shack" area.

Due to CAP's radio system they have their own VHF
radios. I will add 2, one for CAP aircraft and one for
ground team communications. CAP has their own HF
network so 1 HF rig that should also be able to
crossover to the Ham bands. I also plan one 2
meter/70cm rig. For now antennas will be mounted to
the trailer until we can add a circular tower. A
weather station is planned.

Help with possible GPS tracking system for ground
teams & aircraft would be appreciated along with other
suggestions of "must haves".

CAP is the VOLUNTARY axillary of the USAF so we have
almost no budget which means some items may take
"phases" to be implemented.

I am not the keeper of all the worlds knowledge so I
will readily accept any good ideas. If your creative
juices would work better if you could see the trailer
please contact me and stop by my house.

Thanks in advance, Jim W3JTD
