The Foundation for Amateur Radio (FAR) and the Columbia Amateur Radio
Association (CARA) again this year co-hosting the Fall-Fest 2003. We
will be trying to promote young people in amateur radio, and we need
your help. Fall-Fest 2003 will be held on September 6th and 7th 2003 at
the Howard County Fair Grounds. Proceeds and workload are to be split
between the two organizations.

The theme for this year will be young people in amateur radio. We will
be trying to provide an opportunity for people to bring their children
or grand children to Fall-Fest, and get them interested and excited
about amateur radio. We hope to provide many exhibits to excite young
potential hams and their elders. We will also have free testing for
those who would like to try for their amateur license or upgrade their
existing one. Please help us help hams and other people to get their
children involved and excited about amateur radio. This is a great way
to protect the valuable spectrum we enjoy today and pass it on to
another generation.

We are contacting you because your name was listed as a contact for your
club, which is a member club of FAR. As a member club, we are hoping
that you will be willing to support the foundation by publicizing the
event among your members and contributing volunteers for the event. By
providing your support, and helping obtain the support of your club, you
can help FAR provide scholarships to deserving young amateurs who will
be the future of our hobby. We look to you to help us with that goal.
Of course, complimentary tickets are available to those who volunteer
for a minimum of two hours.

Would you be willing to contact some members of your club and provide us
with some volunteers for Saturday and/or Sunday? We can use people to
sell tickets, park cars, and provide relief to other volunteers. At
this time, we could especially use a few individuals who would be
willing to accept responsibility for coordinating the tailgate parking
operations, publicity for the event, leadership and non-leadership jobs
that need to be done before the event.

Feel free to contact us for any questions about any of the jobs. You
will find the jobs posted on the Fall-Fest web site at:
http://www.fall-fest.com/volunteer.php under the job descriptions tab.

If you are not the appropriate person for your club to receive this
e-mail, please contact one of us and, if possible, give us contact
information for the correct person. We will also be present at the next
FAR meeting April 9th in Takoma Park and the May 14th meeting in
Virginia. Thank you very much!
