Gang,
The shock wave from the major flare a day and a half ago arrived at planet earth
about 1000UTC with an initial velocity of about 600 km/sec and peaked at 1000 km/sec
around 1300UTC.  This is a major shock wave to hit the earth, and has triggered
SEVERE GEOMAGNETIC STORMING.  It could develop into EXTREME storming over the next
3-6 hours.  

The 0900 to 1200 UTC K-index was 6 (severe storm).  The K-index is a measure of the
disturbance to our geomagnetic field and is measured every 3 hours.

There is a possibility of aurora in north america this evening.  I will post an
update later in the day.
