For the information of all hands...

    Please be advised that the call sign of the amateur radio repeater =
operating at Blossom Point, MD on the output frequency of 146.85 MHz, =
previously using the call sign W3ERU has been changed to W3BPT, the club =
call sign of the BPARC. This call sign change was necessitated by the =
death of Wes (W3ERU/SK)
Clopton on April 12, 2002.

     Please note that the call sign was not immediately changed out of =
respect for Mr. Clopton and his family. Only after speaking with Mrs. =
Clopton and son William, and advising them that a call sign was =
necessitated by Wes' death, did I feel comfortable in making the call =
sign change. Other technical problems at the Blossom Point Tracking =
Facility (BPTF) have prevented members of the BPARC from making the call =
sign change until today.

    Note that the call sign change was made within the 30 day limit =
mandated by the FCC.

    Personally I am a bit puzzled by the amount of concern the delay in =
changing the call sign has generated, although it is refreshing to see =
so much interest in our lonely repeater.

    If those who were concerned were saddened or offended by the =
continued use of the W3ERU call sign, I offer my sincere apologies.

    Thanks again to all for your continued interest in the Blossom Point =
repeater. The repeater is here for the use of all licensed amateurs =
within the bounds of FCC rules and good amateur operating practices.
