What's next?
There is a 2 mw transmit chip with and outstanding receiver that
can be programmed in 300 KHz steps that will operate on 70cm. It
will produce 156 KBps of data. Drive it with AX.25 and you have
some super packet station...or run your raw TCP/IP to it and have
a super fast (3-4 times as fast) RF modem. Very promising. The
ARRL Lab is trying to get some for test.
Lets not forget HF. How about MT63 and/or Q15X25? Improvements
on those modes and WOW!!!.
Well, it doesn't ALL have to be data. Using the ARRL 802.11b
protocol on 13cm, you can have duplex
voice using VoIP. The same on 70cm at 156 KBps. Nope, not on HF
YET.
